Built on the site of the medieval Eekhout Abbey, the museum gives you a broad selection of Belgian visual art from both local and national artists from the 18th & 19th Centuries. Bruges Bell Tower
Another indoor activity that is especially worthwhile if it’s snowing, is to climb the Bruges Bell Tower. The 12th Century tower dominates the city skyline and gives you a true bird’s eye view of the city below. It’s not for the faint of heart however, with 366 steep, narrow, and winding steps to the top but the view from the top is worth the struggle. The tower is 83 metres high and was originally used as a lookout for danger and fires in the city and is now protected as a world heritage site. Once you get to the top, you’ll have a picture-perfect 360-view of the entire city and its surrounds.
